Daily Devotional: Psalms 92:1-8
Ps. 92:1-8
1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, 2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, 3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. 4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. 5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts! 6 The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand, 7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. 8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.
Rom. 1:18-20
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
Some of the greatest minds in science or math have shown themselves to be fools by refusing to acknowledge God as the creator. Their brilliant minds have been darkened with foolishness by their egotism and supposed wisdom. The most learned of them has only discovered a small fraction of the knowledge that God has spoken into existence. When they die, they will confess Jesus as Lord.
We need to rejoice in the love of God in the morning and his faithfulness every night as we see his goodness in our lives. We should look to our blessings and not to the things that we perceive as being wrong or bad. We must praise God as we observe his creation; the beauties, the power and the wonder of his creatures.
What a waste to use all God has given us, our minds, our energies and our time, to lay up treasures on earth as though this is the reason for our existence. We are here to get ready to go home and live with Jesus. Our hearts need to be set on the things above where Jesus is seated at the right hand of God as we lay up treasures in heaven by serving him and doing his will. What a wonderful God we serve!
Heavenly Father, you are indeed THE wonderful God who made me and gave me life itself. I do praise you for your goodness, your faithfulness, your love and your grace. The more I see and understand your glory, the more I realize just how far I fall short of being like Jesus in all I do and say. I never want to use your grace as an excuse to sin but I also realize that without it, I am nothing. Keep me from being selfish and open my eyes to the opportunities to serve and do good for others. Use me in your will, in your way and your time. I pray in the name of Jesus.
