Daily Devotional: Psalms 106:1-6
Ps 106:1-6
Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise? Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right. Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them, that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. We have sinned, even as our fathers did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly.
Phil 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God.
There is so much joy in serving God. While many in the world (and too many in the Lord’s family) consider it a drudge or chore to serve God, this is the only way we can really live in peace, with joy. When we do the will of God, we find our lives free from so many problems and heartaches that plague those around us. When we treat others with kindness, as we would want to be treated, we find that most of them treat us the same way in return. When we are honest, we find most of the people with whom we deal, will respect us and also be honest with us.
Even more than this, we find that we are at peace with the Lord and then, as a result of this, we are at peace with ourselves. Most of our inner turmoil is because we feel inadequate or we have a guilty conscience but in Jesus Christ we are more than conquerors and we live, knowing that our sins are all forgiven.
We serve the God of peace and our Savior is the Prince of peace. Bitterness and strife are things the Lord hates because his wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and reasonable. We are told to be kind because our Father is kind. We love because our God is love. The great accuser may throw accusations against us, but God knows they are covered by the blood of Jesus. We live with the assurance that our sins are all forgiven because in Christ there is no condemnation.
Heavenly Father it is such a joy to be known as your child and to live knowing all of my sins are forgiven in Jesus Christ. Thank you for your mercy and your grace that makes this possible. Give me wisdom and strength each day to draw closer to you and to become more like you in every way. Thank you for the peace of mind you give me in Christ and his joy that fills my heart. As your Spirit fills my heart with your love, I ask that it may overflow to all who are around me and that your name will be glorified by my attitude. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
