Psalms 104:10-18
10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate--bringing forth food from the earth: 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. 17 There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees. 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys.
The study of science is amazing. The more one learns of true science the more harmony and interaction is shown to exist. It would seem to the untrained mind that all discoveries of new things have been made but this is not true. Scientist are constantly finding new things; objects in the heavens, plants in the fields, animals in the jungles or creatures in the seas. With each new discovery is found how this “new” thing has been working harmoniously in “nature” to support and assist other animals, plants or heavenly bodies.
God did not create the animals in the fields, the fish in the sea or the birds of the air and then just leave them to fiend for themselves. While there are predators and there are victims, (each with its own special skills of hunting or special defense mechanisms) they work in harmony to make up what has been known for years as the “food chain” of various types. Yet, God supplies them with food to eat and water to drink. He takes care of his creation.
Jesus said we can look at this and know that we as mankind are much more important than birds and grass. Since God takes care of these, we can know that he will take care of us. We are instructed to not worry about what we will eat or wear but rather be concerned about things that really matter; our spiritual well- being and then God will supply our physical needs.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your constant care and the assurance that you will supply my needs. Help me not be greedy or lazy but to learn to be content with my place in life and what you have given me. Give me strength and wisdom to constantly want to better myself as your child but not be overly concerned about accumulating more stuff. Give me wisdom to know what is really important. Help me build relationships that can be used to further your cause. Give me a heart of love, compassion and kindness. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
