Psalms 109:21-25
21 But you, O Sovereign LORD, deal well with me for your name's sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 I fade away like an evening shadow; I am shaken off like a locust. 24 My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt. 25 I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they shake their heads.
Recently I saw a presentation that showed how millions of years ago there was nothing, no shape or form and all was void. Then there was this great bang (not sure what banged since there was nothing there to bang) and from that bang the universe was created and began to move. From all this and over millions of more years, life began and evolved into what we call humans with intelligence.
Even the first step alone of this makes about as much sense (and is as probable) as me walking into my kitchen this afternoon to find a cake that just exploded from a box of cake mix and somehow got cooked just right and jumped out of the oven all by itself!
The only parts of this presentation I could agree with is that at one time the earth was void and without form and that there are humans with intelligence today (and I question part of that last one). God created the heavens and the earth and the crown of his creation is mankind. He did give us the ability to think, to reason and to remember and he expects us to look around and come to the conclusion which is obvious; that he is God and he created all things.
There are many gods in this world and there have been many others but all of these false gods have nothing to offer us when we use the reasoning ability God has given. Gods that are carved from wood or molded from clay, silver or gold have nothing to offer and can do nothing for us. Gods that exist only in our minds and lives but have no realty provide nothing beyond our imagination. The only true God of the Bible loves us so much that he wants us to be able to live with him in eternity. He not only wants it for us but has provided all we need to be able to do so. He has given his Son to die for our sin so we can live forever with him.
O God, my heavenly father, I thank you for your wisdom, your love and your grace shown to me in the sacrifice of Jesus on my behalf. Thank you for giving me the ability to think, reason and remember. Give me strength and wisdom to use what you have given so I can grow in faith and commitment to you. Help me spend more time in your word and to come to know you better each day. I ask for your Spirit to continue to mold me to be like you. Keep me from all evil and sin and give me a pure and loving heart. I pray in the name of Jesus.
