Psalms 119:41-48
Vav
41 May your unfailing love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; 42 then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word. 43 Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. 44 I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. 45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. 46 I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, 47 for I delight in your commands because I love them. 48 I lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I meditate on your decrees.
When we speak truth we will not be put to shame. We can stand on it because it does not change. The word of God is absolute truth and can always be relied on, no matter what the circumstances. The fact that religious leaders, politicians and judges have declared otherwise, the truth of God does not change. What God declared as right will always be right and what God has declared as sin and wrong will always be sin and be wrong.
When one declares that there is no absolute truth, that person has by reason of logic denied their own statement. If there is not absolute truth then that statement is not absolute truth so therefore there is indeed absolute truth. When we declare the word of God is absolute truth, we can back it up with evidence from every scientific field. The more scientists discover, the more verified is the truth of God’s word. While many theories over the years have contradicted the Bible, there has never been any real evidence that does so.
If the word of God is not absolute truth, then he has made us and given us his will but we would never know if it still applies or has changed since we last read it. He would have to continually reveal his new truth to us and there would be no such thing as living to please him. God, unlike mankind, does not change his mind with every new idea or trend that comes along.
The greatest truth of all is Jesus. He is the Word of God. He is life eternal. He is the source of salvation. He is the door that leads to heaven. He is our Savior but is also our Lord, our master and leader. Jesus is the revelation of God to us.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing your truth to us in your word. I pray for wisdom to understand it and to apply it in my life. Help me remember that it is not my understanding that is infallible but only your word. As I understand it and live it, help me teach it to others. I ask a special blessing on Christians who are being persecuted for serving you. Give them strength to stand for you and to remain faithful. Be with those who are grieving and give them peace that only you can give. Use me to help when possible. I pray in the name of Jesus.
