Daily Devotional: Psalms 34:8-10
Ps 34:8-10
8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
Rom 15:13-15
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. 14 I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.
We all tend to take things for granted that are familiar in our lives. For those of us who have lived in the United States all of our lives and never even traveled much, we tend to take the freedoms and opportunities for granted. For those who have been raised by Christian parents and have been Christians most of their lives, it is so easy to take for granted the abundance of blessings and privileges of being in Christ. We forget the true meaning of forgiveness. We lose the fire we had when we were first converted to Christ. For many, the idea of truly being an enemy of God and outside of Christ is not even a reality because they have always been taught what is right and have lived to please God.
So this morning as we pause a moment to reflect on God and his goodness, we want to thank him and praise him for his love that is beyond measure and his grace toward us that is indescribable. We have not only tasted but feasted on the goodness of our Lord and we rejoice in his provisions and care for us. We thank God that we can come to him in prayer and know that he will hear us and will answer us with what is best for our lives and eternal good.
It is because of his majesty but also his goodness that we fear and respect him and honor him in all we do and say. As we consider who God really is and what Jesus did for us, we humbly fall on our knees and praise him but we also get up and live for him. We then share this joy with others too.
My Father in heaven, thank you for your matchless love shown to me. Help me never take for granted your forgiveness in Christ. Help me share your love as I forgive those who have done me wrong. Thank you for providing me with your will for me in your word. Give me a pure heart and genuine love for your truth. Give me wisdom to understand it properly and apply it in my life. Thank you for my family who encourages me to be faithful to you. Thank you for the many friends who have helped me over the years both physically and spiritually. Use me to be a blessing to others around me. I pray in the name of Jesus.
