Daily Devotional: Psalms 57:1-5
Ps 57:1-5
1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. 2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills his purpose for me. 3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; Selah God sends his love and his faithfulness. 4 I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts--men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. 5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
Eph 1:17-19a
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
All that we need in life is from God and found in Jesus Christ. He abundantly provides every need, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. The only limits to his supply are our willingness to be his and be used by him and his infinite knowledge of what is best for us and fits his plan for us. When we are faced with problems and when others seem to hinder or harm us, we begin to think that God has forgotten who we are and does not see our needs. But this is never true. He is faithful and he loves us with a love we cannot understand or explain. He feeds the birds and the fish in the sea and he will care for us.
It seems to me that one of the things that limits our faith in God is our lack of knowledge and understanding of who he really is. But how can we fathom the depths of his love? How can we wrap our minds around his majesty with infinite power and incomparable glory? His eternal nature is more than I can grasp. The more we know Jesus and the Father, the more we can truly trust him, rejoice in him always and find his peace in our lives. He alone is God!
My father in heaven, I praise you and long to understand your holiness, your majesty, your infinite wisdom and your indescribable love. Yet, I know you have revealed all of this to me in Jesus your Son. And as I allow your Spirit to live in me, I know you have promised to empower me to live for you and to allow me to be a partaker of your divine nature. Praise your name in all the earth! Mold me and use me in your service. Increase my faith, strengthen my love and give me greater self-control to live according to your will. I pray in the name of Jesus.
