Daily Devotional: Psalms 66:5-7
Ps 66:5-7
5 Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf! 6 He turned the sea into dry land, they passed through the waters on foot--come, let us rejoice in him. 7 He rules forever by his power, his eyes watch the nations--let not the rebellious rise up against him. Selah
Col 1:15-18
15 He [Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
What has God done for you? Why do you owe anything to Jesus, the Christ? The answer to both of these is that we owe everything, all we are and all we have to God; even our very existence. But God did not allow us to be born and then just forget about us. He knows each of us and he knows all about our situation in life, whether it is good or bad. More than just knowing us, he has provided a way of salvation from sin so we can have an eternal home with him.
The death of Jesus on the cross is sufficient to take the place of the death that I deserve to die because of my sin against God. And this is true for every one who may read this. There is no sin that is so great that it cannot be covered by the blood of Jesus if we will accept and obey the saving gospel of our Lord. What has God done for you and me? Because of his mercy and his great love for us he has given his Son to die on the cross so that we might live with him in eternity!
God has demonstrated his wisdom and his power in creation. While many deny him and deny creation as revealed in the Bible, the truth is that there is no reputable scientific evidence of anything other than intelligent design and a supernatural beginning. All that is, came into being because God spoke and it came about. By his power through Jesus, he sustains all things.
Thank you heavenly Father for you wisdom shown to me in your creation. I am so grateful for your mercy and your love shown to me in giving your Son to die for my sin so I can live with you in eternity. Help me now, every day, to live for you and to show my love for you in all I do. I ask your mercy and your special blessings on this country. Give us leaders that will have respect for you and your word. Use me to do your will in all things. Please be with those who are battling cancer and give your healing where it is in your will. I pray in the name of Jesus.
