Daily Devotional: Psalms 89:25-29
Ps 89:25-29
25 I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers. 26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.’ 27 I will also appoint him my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth. 28 I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail. 29 I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
Eph 3:9-11
10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Peter tells us that the prophets of old longed to know the meaning of the things about which they spoke. He says that even the angels tried to figure out the plan of God but failed to do so. The answer and the fulfillment of them is found in Jesus who is the promised Messiah, the son of David, the eternal king, our Savior and our Lord. Just before his ascension back to the Father he declared that God had given him all authority, both in heaven and on earth.
Today as we come to Jesus in faith we not only have our sins forgiven but we are made members of his body of believers. We are made citizens of his kingdom and children in his family. All of these show our relationship with God and with his Son but they also show our new relationship with other believers. We are all one in Christ and with each other. We are to care for one another as one member of our physical body cares for the other members of our body. Together we rejoice and together we suffer. We lift each other up and help one another along the way.
Some have tried to diminish the importance of the church in God’s plan. Part of the reason is because his church has been corrupted in so many ways because we have tried to make his plan fit in ours instead of the other way around.
The church is not intended to be some huge institution with all of its programs and building. The church is a place where we share in a relationship with each other because we share in a common relationship with God in Christ. We have the same Father and should work for his common goals as revealed in his word.
Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for your love shown to me in Jesus by allowing me to be a part of your family. Thank you for all of the brothers and sisters you have given me to help me and to encourage me in so many ways. As I see their faith as they live for you with their problems, they are such an encouragement to me and I thank you for them. Help me be as loving and as forgiving to others as you have been to me. Make me want to help them instead of judging them when they fail because I need their help at times too. In Jesus name I pray.
