Daily Devotional: Psalms 107:33-38
Ps 107:33-38
33 He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground, 34 and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there. 35 He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs; 36 there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle. 37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; 38 he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish.
Acts 17:24-27
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made every nation of men that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27 God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
From the early years of mankind, there have been those who worshipped the creature instead of the creator; serving gods made in the likeness of beasts, animals and even the heavenly bodies above us. They have carved out images from wood and stone and set them up as their gods, even though they cannot speak or hear and they have no knowledge of what is going on around them. They have no power to do anything but all must be done for them.
Our God is creator of heaven and earth and needs nothing from any of us. When he spoke, the world came into existence and he has sustained it with his power since the beginning. All the powers of what we call nature are under his control and he supplies the needs of every creature as he sees best. The winds and waves move and blow as he determines. He brings floods and he sends forth the drought that dries up the land. All of this is so we are without excuse in knowing he is God and that we must serve him and submit to his will. Praise to the Lord God!
Thank you God for loving me and for all you do for all of the earth. I know you are in control, even when it seems the entire world is in chaos. Help me keep my life in your peace as I seek to live for you. As I ponder your power and your majesty, I stand in awe and give you praise. Help me live in such a way that I can honor you and your holy name. Use me, my life and all I have to do your will and accomplish what you want me to do and be. Give your peace and healing as you see best to those who are sick and taking treatments. I pray in the name of Jesus.
