Daily Devotional: Psalms 108:1-5

Ps 108:1-5

1 My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul. 2 Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. 3 I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. 4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. 5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.

1 Tim 6:13-16

13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 which God will bring about in his own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

My family is planning a reunion this summer with my mother, my siblings and their families. As e-mails are being exchanged in anticipation, several have said how excited they are about being together in one house as one big family. (With tongue-in-cheek) I responded that anyone would have to be excited to be in the same house with this many Fudges! But it really is fun and exciting to be together and see my brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews from all over the country and to share the time with each other.

What is even more exciting is being in the family of God. How can anyone be a child of the King, the God of heaven and earth and have a brother who is Lord of Lords and not be excited?! What a joy to have a weekly reunion and be with so many of our brothers and sisters and share the goodness of our Father!

There is no measure of the greatness of God or the majesty of Jesus. Their glory is beyond description and their power is without limits. Yet we can have salvation in Jesus, united in the bond of love that serves as the badge of our relationship. We must rejoice in our God and worship him with thanksgiving.

O Lord God, to whom is glory, honor and might forever, it is with great joy that I come to you as my loving Father. With grateful heart I praise you for all you have done for me in more ways than I can even know – and continue to do for me every day of my life. Help me always keep in mind what a privilege it is to be your child so I will let my life honor you and bring glory to your name. Use me to share the excitement of serving you and your gospel with others so they can be a part of your family also. I ask your care on those who are sick or suffering or hurting in other ways – give them peace and healing. I pray in the name of Jesus.
