Daily Devotional: Psalms 119:121-128
Ps 119:121-128 Ayin
121 I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Ensure your servant's well-being; let not the arrogant oppress me. 123 My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. 124 Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. 125 I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. 126 It is time for you to act, O LORD; your law is being broken. 127 Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, 128 and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.
Rom 1:18-20
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
God allows the wicked to be so. It is our choice to acknowledge God as God and serve him but it is also our choice to ignore or deny him if we desire. There is no excuse for anyone to not serve God because of how he has made himself known in every facet of creation. It is like the time Jesus healed the blind man and the religious leaders refused to acknowledge that this proved he had to be from God and was not just another man. “None is so blind as he who will not see.”
As the eclipse approaches and is in the news every day we see the power and wisdom of God in creation. This is not a random act but is being predicted with exact precision as to when it will occur and to what extent by degrees. But we see this wisdom in the heavenly bodies every day in the precise movements and absolute predictability. God is crying out by the design of creation for all men to see him and recognize him as God. To ignore his cry leaves all who do so without excuse. What is so sad is that Paul goes on to say that God will give up on these and they will then go from bad to worse in their ungodliness.
O Lord God, creator of heaven and earth, I am so thankful that you have revealed yourself to us in your creation. Open my eyes to see your glory and your majesty in the heavens, in the animals and in all of the vegetation around me. Thank you for the beauty of your creation. Be with the leaders of our nation that they will accept your wisdom. Be with our people that each will want to acknowledge you and live by your decrees. I ask your guidance on the news media and the way they cover events that happen as well. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
