Daily Devotional: Psalms 150:1-6
Ps 150:1-6
1 Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
Col 3:1-4
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
There is no better reason to praise the Lord and to give him thanks than for what he has done for us in Jesus Christ. Because Jesus died for our sin, we can live with him. Because he was raised from the grave, so we have the assurance of our own resurrection to eternal life. Our reason for living is found in Jesus our Lord.
What a glorious opportunity it is for each of us to be in the family of God. As his people, the body of Christ on earth, we belong to him and have fellowship with him. It is such a joy to be able to meet with other saints and offer praise to our Savior and our King. To live for him and to serve him is not a chore but is indeed a privilege for which we give thanks. We praise him with all of our being.
While each of us has our reasons for wanting to continue to live here on earth, it is with anticipation that we look forward to the day that we will be with the Lord forever. This world is not our home but it is where we live for the time being. As we show forth Jesus in our lives, we can make the small part of the world where we live a better place for everyone in it. Praise the Lord!
O Lord God, creator and sustainer of life, it is with deep humility and genuine awe that I come before you today. It is also with a heart full of gratitude that I thank you for all you have done for me, are doing for me now and I anticipate you will continue to do for me in the future. I offer you praise from my lips and it is my desire to praise you and bring glory to you as I live each day, seeking to be more like you all the time. Help me open my heart to your Spirit so I will constantly overflow with your love, with kindness, with patience and with a heart willing to help and serve others. I ask a special prayer for the leaders of this country and for the leaders in other countries also that we may have peace. Be with those who are seriously sick and their care givers. I pray in the name of Jesus.
