Daily Devotional: Psalms 22:25-31
Ps 22:25-31
25 From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you will I fulfill my vows. 26 The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the LORD will praise him--may your hearts live forever! 27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, 28 for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations. 29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him--those who cannot keep themselves alive. 30 Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. 31 They will proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn--for he has done it.
Eph 1:3
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
Eph 3:20-21
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Who can measure the work of God? How can we as mortals even begin to know his mind or how he works. He has revealed so much about his nature to us in the Bible but when we learn it all, we still know so little about his majesty, his wisdom and his power. We quote verses like John 3:16 and talk about his love, but who can really fathom that God is love or the redeeming work of Jesus?
The wonderful thing is that by faith we can see him and his Son. By faith we look at the things he has prepared for us in eternity. By faith we understand the great love that he has shown to us and we believe that his mercy endures forever. So by faith we seek to be like him as we allow his Spirit to inhabit our mortal bodies and change our hearts. By faith we accept the spiritual blessings he bestows on us.
Our God is an awesome God! Whatever I face today, he is with me and will hold my hand to carry me through. He will empower me to carry out his will in my life as I seek to follow his word and put my trust in him and in him alone.
My Father in heaven, I praise you for your majesty, for your wonderful love and for your matchless grace. Thank you for the many spiritual blessings in Christ; so many that I cannot know them all. I am always mindful that all I have comes from you and all I ever accomplish in this life is because you have enabled me to do so. I don’t want to be selfish or proud, so I ask you to help me always consider others better than myself and to be willing to use what you have given me to your glory. There are many of my friends and family who are sick and I ask your healing, your mercy and your peace be with them. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
