Daily Devotional: Psalms 26:9-12
Ps 26:9-12
9 Do not take away my soul along with sinners, my life with bloodthirsty men, 10 in whose hands are wicked schemes, whose right hands are full of bribes. 11 But I lead a blameless life; redeem me and be merciful to me. 12 My feet stand on level ground; in the great assembly I will praise the LORD.
Heb 12:11-14
11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 "Make level paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. 14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
There is no greater joy than living for the Lord but with it also comes times of hardship, being misunderstood and even persecution. Being a Christian does not mean that we never face problems, sickness or pain but it does mean that we have one greater than ourselves to hold our hand and protect us. He will never leave us alone. Serving Him means we have genuine hope – not just wishful thinking but a real expectation of being with him in eternal glory.
At some point in our lives, most of us have felt that we were all alone. There may be a lot of people around us but we just don’t feel the connection that they are really with us. In fact, we may even wish that those who are present would go away. It is in these times we can go to God in prayer as Jesus did in the Garden and just as the angel of the Lord came to be with him, we will feel his presence and by faith we can hold the hand of Jesus our Lord.
So, as we joyfully walk by faith and live for him, we can use our lives to comfort those in distress. We can lead others to this wonderful life in Jesus. We can help those who are struggling with a kind word or by giving them a shoulder on which to cry. We can hold their hand and give them peace or just listen as they pour out their hearts; remembering the hymn that says Christ has no hands but our hands and no feet but our feet. We are the Lord’s ambassadors in word and deed.
O Mighty God, giver of life, I am so thankful to be your child. Thank you for giving me this opportunity in Jesus Christ. Increase my faith and keep me from ever thinking that I am strong on my own. It is by your strength I carry on each day and it is your Spirit within me that draws me closer to you. Use me to help others in whatever way conforms to your will. Lord, there are so many who are hurting and who are struggling in so many ways and I ask your presence and your peace for them. Thank you for loving me. I pray in the name of Jesus my Redeemer.
