Daily Devotional: Psalms 27:7-10
Ps 27:7-10
7 Hear my voice when I call, O LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.
John 14:15-20
15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever- 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
Paul told the Ephesians that God lives in us through his Holy Spirit and that Jesus also lives in us by the same Spirit. He told the Romans that if we do not have the Spirit of God living in us we are not his. Since the Spirit is deity and our feeble minds cannot grasp or explain him or the trinity, there is much we do not and cannot understand in this life about the Spirit of God.
What we can know for sure is that as the children of God, he lives in us and empowers us. He molds us into the image of the Son. He empowers us with wisdom from above so that we can understand the spiritual truths revealed in his word. He is constantly working in us to make us ready for eternity.
We are never alone. God is living in us. Christ and the Spirit are a part of us as we seek to follow his will. When we face trials, he is there to support us and guide us with his wisdom. When we pray, we have intercession made on our behalf. As we go through our “normal” day, he is always with us and instilling in us the right path to take, the right thing to say and opens our eyes to the opportunities to do good deeds. He is ever working the things in our world for our good, even when we don’t see it or understand how it is happening. We are never alone!
Heavenly Father, holy and reverend is your majestic name above all the earth. As the only true and living God, I come to you in humility but with assurance that you hear me and want to answer my prayers. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to be your son. As I look back over my life, I see so many things I have done wrong and I thank you for forgiving me. Help me use each one as a learning tool to become more like you. There is so much I don’t understand so I need your wisdom to carry on each day. Use me to teach, to help and to encourage others. I pray in the name of Jesus, my Lord.
