Daily Devotional: Psalms 32:6-11
Ps 32:6-11
6 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. 7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. 10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. 11 Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
Phil 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
No matter what we must face today, we can rejoice in the Lord! As we weigh our own problems and we look at others, it seems that our own are much bigger than those of most others around us. This is human nature because my problems are – well – they are mine. But with the realization that the Lord is near by to each of us today, all day and every day, and with the promise that he will guide us through everything we face today and even use it to help us become more like him, we can rejoice in him with the peace of God filling our hearts and our minds.
Armed with the power of the Holy Spirit, today can be the best day we have had in a long time. We can use it to see the beauty all around us. We can see God in the sunrise, the mountains or the ocean and praise his holy name. Our joy will bring joy to everyone with whom we come in contact. The hurt we feel from our pains will lessen and our troubles will shrink as we turn them over to the Lord. Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart! the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.
Heavenly Father, what a privilege to be your child and to know that you love me and care for me. It does give me peace and joy to know that you see my problems and feel my pain but also rejoice with me in my pleasures. Help me make your will for me my own today. Use your joy in my life to attract someone to Jesus. I know I have sinned and still stumble at times, but I thank you so much for your continued forgiveness. I thank you for those who have influenced my life and helped me in so many ways. Use me to help others. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
