Ps 68:7-14
7 When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland, Selah 8 the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the one of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. 9 You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. 10 Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor. 11 The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it: 12 "Kings and armies flee in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder. 13 Even while you sleep among the campfires, the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold." 14 When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon.
Rev 1:4-6
4 John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father-to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
In our weakness, we limit the power and abilities of God in our minds. We cannot grasp infinite power along with infinite wisdom. But our God is infinite in every respect. He knows what is best for all of mankind as well as my personal needs and yours. He can alter the course of the world to carry out his plan, whether it be for just one of us and what we can do for him or if it be the future of a nation of people. To make this even more difficult to grasp, he can use bad people to do his will and make his plans work. At his bidding, tragedy becomes triumph.
When Jesus died on the cross, it seemed to the entire world (as well as to all of the spiritual beings in heavenly places) that Satan had finally won the battle. He had killed the Son of God! But this was the fulfillment of a promise made long ago when God said the serpent would bruise the heel of the future descendent of the woman, but he would bruise the head of the serpent. Jesus rose from the grave and won the victory over Satan, over sin and over death!
Thank you, God, for your wonderful plan of redemption. I know I have sinned and only deserve punishment and death. Yet, in your infinite wisdom and grace you have provided a way for me to be made righteous in Jesus Christ. Help me open my heart to your Spirit and to his bidding so I can be molded into the likeness of Jesus my Savior, my Lord and my King. Help me allow your love to be complete in me so others will see and know your love by knowing me. Give me a heart of compassion and a willingness to help others. I pray in the name of Jesus.
