Daily Devotional: Psalms 68:28-35
Ps 68:28-35
28 Summon your power, O God; show us your strength, O God, as you have done before. 29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts. 30 Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may it bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. 31 Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will submit herself to God. 32 Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, Selah 33 to him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice. 34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies. 35 You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
Rom 14:9-12
9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. 11 It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.'" 12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
The longer I live, the more I am impressed with the reality of God and his majestic nature. The evidence abounds to prove his infinite wisdom and his power beyond our ability to comprehend. “The fool has said in his heart; ‘there is no God.’” At the same time, the more I study about God and his immutable and infinite nature, the more I realize that I do not and cannot understand how three can be one or how it is possible to exist without time, space or even matter. I can talk about the spiritual body or spirit beings, but my mind does not really understand. I do not understand so much about life after death or what will be.
But my confession of not know or grasping does not diminish my faith; in fact, it makes it even greater. It is by faith I believe the worlds were spoken into being and it is by faith that I believe Jesus was raised from the dead and I too will rise to live in a new and eternal body with my Lord. By faith I acknowledge Jesus as Lord of my life and my Savior. And by faith I seek to live for him every day.
Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for your love for me. I acknowledge you as God, as the only true and living God over all things. Thank you for Jesus who gave his life for my sin, so I can be with you in eternity. Lord, there are so many questions I have in my mind that will be answered in glory, but I joyfully trust you until I reach that goal. Be with me today and every day so I will know and do your will. Use me to help others and glorify your name. I pray in the name of Jesus.
