Daily Devotional: Psalms 103:19-22

Ps. 103:19-22

19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Heb. 1:1-4

1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

When we consider the “Majesty in heaven” it is beyond our ability to understand the fulness of what this means. We tend to trivialize God and his power and thus his majesty because we have never seen him in all his glory. Yet, he appears to us every day in more ways than we can count or even know.

As we stand on the seashore and watch the waves come in, are we not seeing the hand of God? We see his power and his control of our world when the waves stop at almost the same place every time. We see his handiwork (and thus we see him by faith) and his glory as we watch the sun rise in the morning, the sunset in the evening and the stars at night. Consider the power of the sun and how if just a little closer we would be destroyed or if farther away we would freeze and we see his wisdom in creation. God shows himself all around us.

The Lord is the Supreme Majesty over all things. His Son is seated at his right hand and has been given all authority in both heaven and earth. All of the heavenly hosts who see him on the throne fall down and worship him in praise. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain for our sins to receive all glory, honor and power. Jesus is our king, the King of kings and Lord of lords to whom we bow and humbly obey.

Open my eyes O LORD so I will see your majesty in all of your creation. Help me see your beauty in flowers, your wisdom in the skies, your power in the storms and your provisions as you feed the birds. Increase my faith so I will really trust you in every aspect of my life. Take away my fears, my worries and my anxieties as I learn to depend on you to take care of me. Give me wisdom and courage to share the gospel with others. I ask your special blessings on those who are battling the horrible disease of cancer. Give them healing where it is your will and give them strength to endure as they trust you. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
