Daily Devotional: Psalms 104:10-18
Ps. 104:10-18
10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains. 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches. 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate--bringing forth food from the earth: 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. 17 There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees. 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys.
Matt. 6:25-27
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
God cares about and takes care of the creatures of the wild. He provides food and water for the birds and beasts. Jesus said if our faith is strong, we will not worry about the things of this life because we are much more important to God than these animals. He will provide all of our needs on a daily basis.
This is so easy to say and teach but not always so easy to put into practice. We see the bills that come in the mail. We endure the pain and suffering from all kinds of diseases. Our whole world crashes in on us when we lose someone we love, either by death or broken relationships. These are real but we only see God by faith and add to this that his timing is not always what we want it to be or we think it should be. But God has promised and he does not and cannot lie.
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love for me. Increase my faith and take my anxieties, problems and worries. Help me trust you enough to leave them with you instead of trying to solve everything myself. Thank you for giving me what I need instead of all that I ask for. Lord, I have friends who are struggling today with things in their lives and need you every hour. Increase their faith and use me to help them in whatever way I can do so. Open my eyes to see the opportunities to serve you and do your will and give me wisdom and fortitude to step forward to be all you want me to be and do. I pray in the name of Jesus my friend.
