Daily Devotional: Psalms 104:27-30
Ps 104:27-30
27 These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
Acts 17:24-28
24 "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27 God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
The only God, holy and majestic, has not only created all things but has provided for the procreation and continuation of this earth. As long as he determines in his plan that it will continue, things will go on as we know them. All living things die and are replaced with new life by the Spirit of God. In his wisdom each form of life has been placed where it is best suited and in the space of time is best serves.
Because of sin, all mankind has been doomed to death, both physical and spiritual death. But by the infinite wisdom of God, he has made it possible for us to have our sins forgiven and have eternal life. Some of the greatest minds have longed to find the source of living forever but without God it cannot be found. This world has been cursed by its maker and eternity has been removed from its grasp.
But God has revealed to all of us the source of eternal life. He sent his Son to live as one of us (but without sin) and then to offer that perfect life as a sacrifice for our sin. Because of his great love for us, God through his tender mercy and kindness, has extended the incomparable riches of his grace to us. The gospel of Christ is God’s power for us to be saved when we accept it on his terms.
Heavenly Father I am so thankful that you have revealed your wisdom to me in more ways than I can know. I stand in awe as I see your creation power. As I ponder your love for me and realize the great extent to which you have gone so I may live with you in eternity, I am caused to want to become like you in every way. Thank you for giving your Spirit so I can be molded into your image as I journey through this world and this life. Help me trust you more so that I don’t grieve him by my failure and sin. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
