Daily Devotional: Psalms 111:1-5
Ps 111:1-5
1 Praise the LORD. I will extol the LORD with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. 2 Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. 3 Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate. 5 He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.
John 15:9-11
9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
God has made himself known to all of mankind. His power and his wisdom are shown in every part of creation. Many choose to ignore him and deny that we exist because of him but only because they choose the path of folly. The real underlying cause for anyone to reject God is not because of evidence (or lack of it) but is because they refuse to admit they are accountable to him. However, this denial does not remove their accountability. The judgment seat of God is a reality we all will face as we bow before Jesus and confess him as Lord of lords.
God makes himself known to us in love because he is love. The love of a mother for her young is a manifestation of God. When we are willing to give our lives for the good of mankind, it is because we have been instilled with a love from God for what is right. This same love for right gives us a conscience to follow his will.
We demonstrate the moral purity of God when we are born. Jesus said we must become like little children in our innocence and purity. For the first years in the life of every child, there is no deceit, no evil and no moral guilt. It is only when we get old enough to accept the lies of the devil that we choose to sin and in so doing, separate ourselves from God. It is this choice that begs for God’s grace. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love for me and for all of mankind. You alone are God and you possess all wisdom. Instill in my heart a portion of your wisdom so I will seek to obey you and follow your will in every part of my life. I need your continued forgiveness as I face the trials of each day. Thank you for the many fellow Christians you have put in my life and for the encouragement each of them gives me daily. Use me to help others. I ask your blessings and healing on those who are battling cancer. I pray in the name of Jesus my Savior.
