Daily Devotional: Psalms 117:1-2
Ps 117:1-2
1 Praise the LORD, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. 2 For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD.
Philemon 1:3-7
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, 5 because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. 6 I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.
There is not enough ink in the world or paper upon which to write to properly declare the reasons we have to praise the Lord. We praise him because he is the only true God and creator of all that exists. We praise the Lord because of his great majesty, his boundless knowledge and his infinite wisdom. Praise the Lord because he is love and that love is extended to us in more ways than we ever can know. We praise the Lord because he has revealed himself to us in his word.
We praise the Lord for every breath we take and for the food we eat. He is the one who has provided us with the ability to earn a living and to enjoy the many blessings we take for granted. It is the Lord who gives us our families and so many friends that brighten our lives. He who gives us our health to enjoy and provides
healing when we are sick and peace when life is filled with sorrow or grief.
Praise the Lord for he has shown us mercy and extended his grace to us by giving his Son to die for our sins. Praise his name for he has made it possible for each of us to live with him in eternity in a glorious dwelling beyond our imagination. We give him praise for being a part of his body, his family, his church. We are his royal priesthood and citizens in the kingdom of his dear Son. As his people we have the wonderful opportunity to meet with other Christians and to worship with those who share our love for him. Praise the Lord because he has given us his Spirit to work in us, to intercede for us and to empower us to overcome temptations.
Heavenly Father I praise your holy name. You are above all the gods of this world and you alone are in control. You are majestic beyond my understanding. Thank you for Jesus, for his life and his willingness to go to the cross and die for my sins. All praise to you for raising him from the grave and in so doing, to prove that I too will be raised one day. Thank you for giving your Spirit as a guarantee that I can be with you when this life is over. Keep me faithful to you and make me stronger so I will always stand against the deceitfulness and the lure of sin. Use me to lead and to help others serve you. I pray in the glorious name of Jesus my Lord.
