Daily Devotional: Psalms 119:121-128
Ps 119:121-128 Ayin
121 I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Ensure your servant's well-being; let not the arrogant oppress me. 123 My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. 124 Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. 125 I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. 126 It is time for you to act, O LORD; your law is being broken. 127 Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, 128 and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.
2 Cor 6:14-16
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
There is a philosophy in our world that is anything but antagonistic toward our faith in God or in Jesus as the Son of God. In fact, the crux of this belief is that all religions should simply co-exist. They are saying that we are to have respect for others; even when we disagree with them. This is true and we should treat everyone the way we would like to be treated. But this teaching of coexistence says that all religions, philosophies and beliefs are equally correct and none can be considered as the only way or the absolute truth. This is evil from Satan.
Light and darkness cannot co-exist because they are mutually exclusive. So it is with righteousness and wickedness. When Jesus said he is the way, the truth and the life that excludes any other way to live or to have eternal life. When God said he is the only true God that excludes any other gods as being real. When God declares something to be sin and leading to eternal condemnation it is immoral, even if it is legalized and loved by the world. We cannot love God and mammon.
Heavenly Father I am so glad to be your child and to know the peace and security you give. I need your Spirit on a daily basis to help me keep my mind focused on you and on things above. It is so easy for me to allow the cares and the things of this world to consume my thoughts and my time. Give me wisdom and strength to not allow this to happen. Use me to show others Jesus in my life and to teach and encourage in the things I say. Help me hate sin as I learn to love you and your word more each day. Forgive me when I fail. I pray in the name of Jesus.
