Ps 136:1-9
1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever. 2 Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. 3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. 4 to him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever. 5 who by his understanding made the heavens, His love endures forever. 6 who spread out the earth upon the waters, His love endures forever. who made the great lights--His love endures forever. 8 the sun to govern the day, His love endures forever. 9 the moon and stars to govern the night; His love endures forever.
1 Thess 5:15-18
15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Rejoice in the Lord always and again, I say rejoice. With thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Give thanks for everything and worry about nothing. Even when you face all kinds of trials and hardships in life, rejoice and be thankful because these build us into the kind of person God wants us to be. When we give it makes us much happier than when we receive. And these are just a few of the things God tells us about having a life filled with happiness and peace.
When we fill our minds with our problems and we dwell on all that is wrong in the world, we will find our hearts filled with anxiety and turmoil. This is why Paul said we are to fix our minds on the things above and not the things of this world.
Whatever is going on in your life today; stop and give thanks to God. No matter how bad it may seem, there are things that are good and things for which we can give thanks to our maker. Thank him because his love endures forever. Thank him because he is able to deal with whatever we face in life. Thank him because he cares for each of us with a love that is beyond our imagination. Thank God!
It is because of his wisdom and his inner beauty that we have a beautiful world with the awesome sunset, the beauty of the oceans, the mountains the glaciers and the birds, flowers and trees. The more we trust him, the happier we will be.
Heavenly Father I thank you for being willing to take my problems, my burdens, my heartaches and all my anxieties and deal with them for me. You know I need to be able to trust you more – really trust you enough to turn it all over to you and then let it go. Help me get rid of all the negative thoughts in my life so I will fill my mind with your goodness and all that you are doing for me every day and truly be thankful for all things in all circumstances. Your love endures forever and for this I give you thanks. Help me love as you love me. I pray in Jesus name.
