Daily Devotional: Psalms 143:7-12
Ps 143:7-12
7 Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. 8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. 9 Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. 10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. 11 For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. 12 In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.
John 17:20-23
20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Life is filled with problems. Now that is not news for anyone nor is it something we like to consider. We face social and relationship problems. We get sick or our loved ones die. We have accidents and financial reverses. And then because we live in a world of instant gratification, we face the daily issues of having to wait a few minutes or seconds on something to take place. Yes, life is full of problems.
Imagine a world without any problems. That is the world that was given to Adam and Eve. It was not until Satan manufactured the problems in their minds about God and his restraints on them that either of them had any real issues. Life was beautiful and everything they needed was supplied. Sin brought problems.
God has promised a new world, a new heaven and a new earth for those who trust him and are faithful to live for him. Satan is still trying to manufacture all kinds of problems and doubts in our minds to steal this from us. But thanks be to God in Jesus Christ our Lord, he has already accomplished the victory for us.
Heavenly Father give me greater faith, more determination to yield to your Spirit and better self-control so I can incorporate your power, your wisdom, your love and compassion in my life. Help me remember that to submit to you is to find joy and peace. Open my eyes to see the opportunities you give to serve you in serving others. Forgive me when I fail to be all you want me to be. Help me better control my lips to say only what will honor you. Show me how to listen better. Use me to encourage others as they seek to serve you. I pray in the name of Jesus.
