Daily Devotional: Psalms 145:8-13
Ps 145:8-13
8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. 10 All you have made will praise you, O LORD; your saints will extol you. 11 They will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might 12 so that all men may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.
1 Tim 2:3-6
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men-the testimony given in its proper time.
How many times have you been told that God or Jesus loves you? Do you believe it? What does this mean in your mind? The love of God is not some mushy feeling that changes with his mood or with our behavior. The love of God is his nature that always seeks what is best for us. He made all of mankind to live in a place of perfection in eternity in his presence. This is beyond or ability to grasp.
We were made to show his glory in our bodies and in our lives. In doing this we honor him as the one and only majestic, true and holy God. The more we can be like him, the more we honor him. The more his will is our will, the more we bring him glory and praise. We are here to get ready to live forever with him in glory.
The greatest honor, the most noble praise and the best recognition that we can bestow on God and on Jesus Christ is our trust in him. When we trust him, we will follow his word without argument or doubt. Even when we don’t understand why he tells us to do something or to refrain from doing something, we comply with his will and do what he says. His word is not just a list of rules but a revelation of his nature set forth in principles for us to follow so we can be like him. We are to love as he loves but also to hate sin as he hates sin. We are to have compassion, be merciful and to seek to serve others as Jesus died for us to save us from sin.
Heavenly Father I stand in awe before you because of your majesty, your power, your wisdom and your glory. I praise you for your matchless love, your tender mercy and your compassion shown to me in the sacrifice of Jesus your Son. Give me a greater faith, wisdom to understand and strength with self-control to let your Spirit live in me and mold me into your likeness. Your church has failed you in so many ways and I ask your mercy on us as we seek to honor you by reaching out to the lost and bringing them to Jesus. I pray in his name.
