Daily Devotional: Psalms 4:1-8
Ps 4:1-8
1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. 2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Selah 3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. 6 Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Heb 11:24-26
24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. 25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.
While life is not always as simple as putting a swing set together, there is a correlation between the two. It is much easier to assemble a swing set if one reads and follows the instructions of the maker. They have made the pieces to be assembled in a certain way and any other way will not work properly.
God made us and he knows what is best for us. All the while there are many in this world who don’t believe God and refuse to follow his will (instructions on how to live) revealed to us in the Bible. These detractors are deluded followers of Satan and are filled with all kinds of deception. They will lead us on a path that only leads to eternal spiritual death. Following God is our only true hope.
God is our deliverer. He may not remove all of our problems but following his will does help us avoid many of them in the first place. When we trust him and still face issues in life, he will give us a way of escape and strength to carry it out. God gives us peace and a reason for joy in the worst of circumstances. Praise the Lord!
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love for me. It is amazing to know that in spite of all the sin in my past you still care about me and love me. Wonderful is your protection in my life. Thank you for giving me reason to rejoice in the midst of the tumultuous circumstances in life. Increase my faith so I will never lose sight of Jesus and the things above. Help me keep my thoughts on things that are right, lovely, wholesome and true. Give me faith to open my heart to the bidding of your Spirit as he molds me into your image. I pray in the name of Jesus.
