Daily Devotional: Psalms 24:1-10
Ps 24:1-10
1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. 3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. 5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior. 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Selah 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty--he is the King of glory.
Eph 6:10-11
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
The Lord, he is God! What a proclamation. But do we really grasp what this simple statement says? The earth and everything in it belongs to the Lord because he is God. He designed it, he made it and he sustains it. This includes you and me. We owe him our very breath and the life we live. No matter how much we own or what we have accomplished, it is the Lord who has given us the abilities and the opportunities to make it happen. It is only by his grace we are here today.
He is Lord! This means we are subject to him and his will. He owns us and so he has the right to tell us what to do and not do and how to live our lives. While he gives us the freedom to reject him, we are still accountable to him. As our Lord, he wants us to become like him, perfectly holy, pure and righteous. He wants us to live eternally, with him in his home where there is no sickness or sorry.
The Lord, he is God and God is love. Every action he makes is from the motive of love for you, for me and for every person who has ever lived. His love is beyond our ability to comprehend. He gave his Son to die a cruel death on a cross so we can live for him now and with him in eternity. Love is from God and when his love is perfected in us, there is no fear of life or death because we are his.
Heavenly Father it is such a blessing to be your child and to know your love. Fill me with your Spirit and give me your strength to overcome every temptation and every trial I face in life. Instill in my heart the understanding that I am nothing on my own and that my life means nothing without you as my Lord. Give me wisdom to use all I have to your glory. Thank you for my physical family and the joy they bring into my life. Thank you for my spiritual family also. I pray in Jesus name.
