Daily Devotional: Psalms 100 Thanksgiving
Ps 100:1-5
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Phil 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love, your mercy and your grace shown to me in Jesus Christ. Thank you for making it possible for my sins to be forgiven and for me to be your child. Instill in my mind your majesty, your greatness and your wisdom. Help me reconcile this with your love for me as only one small and unworthy person out of so many millions. Remind me that you know me by my name and want only what is best for me. Also remind me that what is best is that I am prepared to meet you when you come again or my life ends here on earth.
Thank you for the great nation in which I live. Thank you for the forefathers who made this possible and established our laws on your laws. Guide our leaders that they will look to what is best for our nation and not their own selfish desires. Use each one in your way so that we will have a more peaceful nation where people can get along with each other in spite of our differences and disagreements. Use the media to promote peace and not incite hatred and division.
Thank you, Lord, in a special way for the parents you gave me and for the way they sought to instill in me a love for you and your word. Thank you for the example they set before me in so many ways. Thank you for my immediate family that I will be with today. Thank you for the joy they give me. Help me be the right example for each of them so they will always want to live for you.
Thank you for the many fellow Christians in my life and for the opportunities we have to encourage each other and help each other along the way. Thank you for the fun times we have together as we laugh and play. Thank you also for the times we have spent crying together as we have shared our sorrows. Above all, help me have greater faith in you and in Jesus as my Savior and to truly love you with all my heart, my soul and my mind. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
