Daily Devotional: Psalms 62:7-12
Ps 62:7-12
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah 9 Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; if weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. 10 Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them. 11 One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, 12 and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.
James 1:9-11
9 The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. 10 But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business.
Jesus told a story about a rich man and a poor beggar who laid at his gate, filled with sore and starving. He said that Lazarus, the beggar, died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. He then said: “and the rich man died too.” This has always impressed me with the fact that we all die. It does not matter if we are rich or poor, educated or not or the car we drive, our life on earth will end.
But we can depend on Jesus to be with us, in life and in death. In Jesus we are more than conquerors because of his love for us. He has promised to be with us and to continue to intercede on our behalf before the Father. Jesus knows what it is to face trials and to feel the uncertainty of life. He knows what it means to suffer physical pain as well as mental anguish. He will ever walk with us and hold our hand as we go through life. We must keep our eyes on him who is above.

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
In thee O God I pour out my heart and pledge my allegiance. In you alone I put my trust. As I face the uncertainty of each day, I need you more and more in my life. Fill my heart with your peace and your joy in Jesus. In his name I pray.
