Daily Devotional: Psalms 71:1-8
Ps 71:1-8
1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. 2 Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness; turn your ear to me and save me. 3 Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. 4 Deliver me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of evil and cruel men. 5 For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. 6 From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise you. 7 I have become like a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. 8 My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.
Heb 11:39-40
39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. 40 God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
We can trust in God. Jesus is our friend and will never leave us. No matter what we face in life, who may oppose us or how hopeless things may seem, we can put our trust in Jesus and in God the Father. He has promised that he will work all things together for our good, when we love him and are called by him. God cannot lie because of his very nature as God. In Jesus Christ we can do all things.
This takes away all fear of the unknown because he knows our tomorrow and is in control of all that will happen. This faith removes all anxiety because Jesus has already been through what we are facing or about to face and he has overcome on our behalf. Since in Christ we have been forgiven of all sin, all wrongdoing, we can freely forgive anyone who has done us wrong. Jesus is our friend and Lord.
What a joy to arise each day with the knowledge that our destiny is under the control of our God. What a blessing to go to bed each night with the peace of mind that we are totally forgiven by our Lord for every sin committed. We have purpose and meaning in life as we serve Jesus our King. Our goal is to be like him in every way and to serve him by serving others. Love covers a multitude of sins and seeks to only do good to all with whom we come in contact.
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love, your mercy and your grace that is shown to me in Jesus Christ. Thank you for your constant care and protection in every part of my life. Thank you for giving me strength to overcome temptations and to get up when I have fallen. As our world faces and deals with Covid-19 it would be easy to be overwhelmed with the sickness and death and all that goes with a pandemic but I know you are in control and it will cease when you say the word. Protect you own and help us learn from it. I pray in Jesus name.
