Daily Devotional: Psalms 71:22-24
Ps 71:22-24
22 I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, O Holy one of Israel. 23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you--I, whom you have redeemed. 24 My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.
Eph 1:11-14
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of his glory.
We teach our children to pray that God is great and God is good. But what does it mean that God is great and good? Do we teach these little ones to believe in the greatness and goodness of God? The majesty of God and therefore his glory is beyond our ability to comprehend. His goodness is beyond measure.
Think about the person you picture as the greatest person alive or dead. Then think of the things of nature that are so much greater than this person. This person has no control over the forces of nature or even the circumstances of his or her life. They are not really that great when compared to the God who spoke all things into existence and then controls all we call nature. Add to this the fact that God, by his very nature, is absolute perfection in love, purity, faithfulness, wisdom and knowledge. This is the God we trust and serve.
This God of majesty and glory is mindful of each of us. In fact, he loves us so much that he gave his Son to die for the sins we have committed against him. But he has raised Jesus from the grave and seated him at his right hand to live forever as our faithful High Priest, our intercessor, our brother and our friend.
Heavenly Father it is so wonderful to know you as my God and to know Jesus as my Savior. Thank you for providing me a way of salvation from sin and from all the worry and anxiety of this world. You provide me peace of mind through the hope you have given by your exceedingly great and precious promises given in Jesus my Lord. Thank you for loving me and being mindful of me. I ask your grace of healing and peace on those who are sick, taking treatments and getting over surgeries. Give me wisdom to serve you better. I pray in the name of Jesus.
