Daily Devotional: Psalms 94:14-19
Ps 94:14-19
14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. 15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. 16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? 17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. 18 When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me. 19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
James 5:7-9
7 Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. 9 Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
What a blessing to be a child of the King! What a joy to know Jesus as my brother and as my friend! How humbling it is to realize that he is my Savior who gave his life for me so I can live with him in eternity! It is no wonder Paul said we are to rejoice in the Lord always. He is ever near us and will always sustain us.
While the world is filled with anxiety because of the cares of this world, we can focus on Jesus and the things above and know that all is taken care for us. We have no reason to worry. No matter how bad our circumstance, no matter how severe our pain, no matter what looms around us, we can rejoice because we are safe in the arms of Jesus our Shepherd and our Lord. He ever holds our hand.
The virus is real and people are getting sick. Cancer is taking lives. Accidents kill people and ruin lives. Divorce is tearing families apart. Social unrest, hatred and racial tensions surround us. We cannot deny these things and so many other evils are real or that they impact our lives. But we can put our trust in Jesus and live in peace as we rejoice in him always. As we give thanks in everything it takes away our worry and kills the anxiety. As Paul said, the eternal glory that awaits us is far greater than the worst things we can face in this life. Rejoice in the Lord!
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for all you do for me and all of the freedoms I have in my life. Thank you for the privilege of being born in this country and for the many opportunities this has given me. Help me use my freedoms to spread your word and to show Jesus in my life. Even more, I thank you for the freedom given me in Jesus Christ, freedom from the law of sin and death. I ask your blessings on those who are taking treatments and those who are getting over surgeries. Use me to help others live for you. I pray in Jesus name.
