Daily Devotional: Psalms 100:1-5
Ps 100:1-5
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Rom 15:5-7, 13
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are the people of God, the Lord of heaven and earth. We are the sheep of his pasture and Jesus is our Great Shepherd. We are committed to following his will for us and for our lives. We no longer live for ourselves or for the pleasures of this world but rather, we live for him and he lives in us. This is not some horrible task but is a labor of love which brings us fulfillment, joy and peace.
We can never express our thanksgiving to him for all he has done for us and all he does for us each day. We have air to breath and we have food to eat. We slept in a bed last night and we have clothes to wear today. Even with all the turmoil in our world, most of us have friends or family to uphold us and to encourage us.
When our world crashes in on us (and it does crash on us all at some time or another), we can look to brothers and sisters in Christ and we can always turn to Jesus as our friend and brother. He has suffered in every way we can face today and he understands our heartaches and our grief. He gives his Spirit to live in us.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Heavenly Father it is so good to be your child and to know there are so many who love me and who want what is best for me. Use me to help others and especially those who are hurting or who are lonely. Thank you for all you have given me in a material way – and you have blessed me abundantly. Thank you for your love and for your forgiveness in Jesus Christ. Thank you for the United States of America and all the freedoms and privileges this give me. Be merciful to our leaders and give them your wisdom to guide us. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus.
