Daily Devotional: Psalms 102:12-17
Ps 102:12-17
12 But you, O LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. 13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come. 14 For her stones are dear to your servants; her very dust moves them to pity. 15 The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the kings of the earth will revere your glory. 16 For the LORD will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory. 17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
Matt 6:25-27
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Wait on the Lord. Sounds simple, right? Sounds easy, right? Well we all know that there are times that it is not easy to sit and wait on the Lord to take care of things because we do not see his working or we are in a hurry for an answer. We need to be ever praying for the faith to simply wait on the Lord and let him work in us and for us at his speed. He knows what is best and in his time will carry it out.
Think about Abraham. God told him he would have a son and this son would have many descendants. When Abraham was about eighty years old, the Lord renewed this promise but nothing seemed to be happening. Near the age of ninety he and his wife decided to help the Lord and he had a son by his servant, Hagar. But this was not the plan of God. Finally, when he was a hundred years old and Sara was beyond bearing children, the Lord gave him the promised son, Isaac.
Whatever we face in life and whatever seems to be happening, when we trust God, he will use it for our good. He can take the worst circumstances and make the impossible become reality. In Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven and our past is no longer held against us but is rather a learning ground from which we learn to trust and obey. Some of the best people living have been some of the worst.
Heavenly Father use me in your service in your way and in your time. Thank you for forgiving my past and making a way for me in the present and the future. Help me open my eyes to the opportunities you provide so I will carry out your will and bring honor to your name. Remind me that a great deed in your sight may be as simple as a kind word to someone who is down or a cup of water to the thirsty. Be with our nation, our leaders and guide our election. I pray in Jesus name.
