Daily Devotional: Psalms 103:15-22
Ps 103:15-22
15 As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children--18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. 19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
Rom 8:31-34
31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
The more we understand who God is, the easier we find it to trust him. He is the one who made everything with the word of his mouth. The God who can speak the universe into existence certainly has the power to watch over us and to take care of our needs. We cannot even grasp the power of creation – making things exist that did not exist or giving life when there is no life. This is the God who can hold the world’s worst hurricane in the palm of his hand and stop it with his breath or calm the worst storm with a word. This is the God we serve.
He is over all things and it is all under his control. The virus pandemic is but a small blip on his screen of eternity and can only touch those that he allows. In his time it will come to an end and soon be forgotten. He is the one who appointed the rulers over the nations and each will serve his purpose as he sees best. Our nation seems out of control at times but at his bidding it will all end. He sees each of our personal problems and none is too big for his loving arms or mighty hand.
Heavenly Father help me realize your power but also your great love for me. Give me greater faith to trust you and to trust your way for my life. Open my heart for your Spirit to live in me more fully and to mold me more into your image each and every day. Help me better control all I think and say so that every thought and every word will honor you and bring glory to your name. Give the leaders of our nation your wisdom so they will rule in a way that will give us peace and continue the freedoms we enjoy. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
