Daily Devotional: Psalms 104:19-26
Ps 104:19-26
19 The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. 20 You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl. 21 The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. 22 The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens. 23 Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening. 24 How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number--living things both large and small. 26 There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.
John 3:19-21
19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
The wisdom of God shown to us in creation is beyond our ability to grasp. There are nocturnal animals while others sleep at night and feed in daylight. There are those who sleep all winter while others love to frolic in the snow. Some animals seek the high places or even the desert while others want to live in the marsh or the deepest valleys. God made some to live in trees and some in underbrush.
While all humans are the same, each of us is different. We look different from others and we act differently. Our likes and dislikes are not the same but we all share many common traits. What we all have in common is that we belong to God and we are made in his likeness. Our purpose is to honor God and live for him.
We all have a moral conscience and we will all be held accountable for the way we live and our relationship with God. He has revealed his will for us in his word and we must respond to him in faith. We have all sinned against him, so we all deserve to die – separated from him forever. But Jesus is the Light that has come into the world, giving his life for our sin so we can live in eternity with him.
Heavenly Father your wisdom and your power are seen all around me in more ways than I can even know. I want to live for you and bring glory to you in all I do and all I say. Fill me with your Spirit so his fruit will flourish in my life. Keep me from ever being proud of what I have or have done but remind me that all I am and all I have is by your grace and is a gift from you. Thank you for my family and the love we share. Thank you for my spiritual family and the love shown to me by so many. Use me in your will to help someone today. In Jesus name.
