Ps 119:121-128 Ayin
121 I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Ensure your servant's well-being; let not the arrogant oppress me. 123 My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. 124 Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. 125 I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. 126 It is time for you to act, O LORD; your law is being broken. 127 Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, 128 and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.
John 2:13-17
13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!" 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."
The temple of God is holy because God is holy and it belongs to him. The name of God is holy because he is holy. When we recognize the holiness of God, it will change the way we view everything related to him, including his word. The word of God is holy because he is holy and he has spoken. So we must listen to what he says and then put it into practice in our lives. His word is truth.
We are not to serve God for our personal profit. I once heard a manager in a sales firm suggest that those of us who worked there should become members of the churches that had affluent people and who would make good prospects for what we were selling. Whether it is the preacher or the salesman, or the custodian, we are not to serve God for money or for personal fame, but rather because he is God and he is holy. We, like Jesus, should be consumed with zeal for God and for his house. Seek first the kingdom and his righteousness and he will care for us.
Heavenly Father it is with joy that I come to you and thank you for all you do for me in so many ways. You have lifted me up when I have fallen and you have loved me when I was unlovable. You have forgiven so many failures in my life and you have shown me the way by your word. Help me be loving and forgiving to others and use me to show your way to them. Be with our nation and guide our leaders so they will look to you for wisdom and we can live quiet and peaceful lives. Be with those who are sick and those who are hurting. I pray in Jesus name.
