Ps 136:1-3, 23-26
1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever. 2 Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. 3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever…23 to the one who remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever. 24 and freed us from our enemies, His love endures forever. 25 and who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever. 26 Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.
Matt 6:25-27
25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
In the words of the old country song: “I have lived through some bad times, lived through some sad times.” I have had times in my life when there was not enough money to pay the rent and utility bill and had to make a choice. I have wept over the loss of a child until there were no more tears. I have walked the floors of the hospital waiting to see if the one I loved more than me, would live to the next day. I have felt the guilt of sin so much that I wondered if life was worth living.
BUT GOD! who is rich in mercy and who is filled with loving kindness has always been with me and has been willing to forgive me, provide my physical needs and has given me comfort when there was none to be found on my own. When I put my trust in him, I found that he supplied my every need. When I learned to wait on the Lord, I found he had the answers and he made the provisions.
Surely, His love endures forever. Paul says we are to pray about everything and worry about nothing because the Lord is near to us. By faith, no matter what our circumstance, we can reach out and hold his hand and we can rest in his bosom. We can pour out our hearts to him with the assurance that he hears and he cares what we are facing. God is love and perfect loves casts out fear.
Heavenly Father what a blessing to know that you are always with me. You have carried me through so much in my life and I want to serve you with all my being, with all my heart and soul. I want you to use me in your way and in your time but I know I have failed you in so many ways. Thank you for your forgiveness in Jesus Christ and thank you for not giving up on me. Fill me with your Spirit more each day so I will show your love to all those around me. Be with your people and give your peace and strength to those who are struggling. I pray in Jesus name.
