Daily Devotional: Psalms 147:1-6
Ps 147:1-6
1 Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! 2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. 5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. 6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
1 Cor 15:39-41
39 All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. 41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
One of the things I have learned over the years is that when there is a position being held by someone and there are multiple theories being put forth to contradict it, the position is probably true. The many different theories of the pre-millennial doctrine is an example of this. The various theories of evolution that have been espoused over the years is another. They are lies from Satan.
The true scientific evidence, when honestly examined begs for an intelligent designer for all that exists. Every part of our known world and universe operates with precision and predictability. There has never been a provable incident of any species of animal evolving into another species. In the world of computers and robotics, the goal is always to try to copy the human body and brain. Aeronautical engineers use the capabilities of the various birds to seek to design the most efficient flying machines. This designer is the God of the Bible.
God spoke all things into existence. When we accept the Genesis account of creation, it is easy to see why God deserves to be praised and reverenced. He is in control. So while mankind is still trying to discover all the stars, he knows them each by name. While we freak out about our problems, he has power to speak them out of existence or to give us the strength to overcome each of them.
Heavenly Father, creator and sustainer of life and all things, I praise you and your holy name. You are God and you alone deserve to be followed in faith. Thank you for all you do for me every day. Thank you for the very air I breath and for the light and heat that come from the sun. Thank you for my family and for the many friends you have put in my life over the years. Help me never forget that you know what is best for me in every situation I face. Give me wisdom, strength and greater faith to follow your will. I humbly pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
