Daily Devotional: Psalms 150:1-6
Ps 150:1-6
1 Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
Rev 7:9-12
9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." 11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"
Praise the Lord! There is no better way to start a new day than in praise to the Lord. Nothing prepares us for what we will face more than offering praise to the God of heaven who loves us and takes care of us. By praising him we recognize that he alone is God and that we are dependent upon him for all things. In our praise we are giving him thanks for what he has done for us in the past.
As we anticipate that great throne scene and being one of the ones dressed in the white robes, we give him thanks for offering his Son on our behalf. As we think of heaven above, we are made to give him praise for revealing his will to us. As we worship God and the Lamb, we rejoice that we have been given the opportunity to share his gospel with others. What a blessing to belong to the family of God. He is our Father, the one who loves us more than our minds can imagine. Even while we were dead in sin, he loved us and gave his Son to die in our place. So we praise God for his grace, for his lovingkindness, for his mercy and for Jesus our Lord.
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for all you have done for me. Thank you for showing me what love is and how I can love others, even when it seems to me that they do not deserve to be loved. Keep me from ever thinking that I am better than anyone else on my own because I am what I am by your grace. Use me as your servant to do your will and to honor your holy name by my life. Fill me with your Spirit and mold me into your image. Give me your wisdom and greater self-control to use all I have to your glory. I pray in the name of Jesus my Lord.
