Daily Devotional: Psalms 9:7-12
Ps 9:7-12
7 The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment. 8 He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice. 9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. 10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. 11 Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done. 12 For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
2 Peter 3:12-16
13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord's patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.
The Lord has never forsaken those who trust him. Let that statement sink in and then think about all the times the Lord has delivered you from your trials. He is always faithful to his promise. Many of our trials and our problems and even our major decisions in life are actually the Lord working and getting us ready for bigger and better things to come. We cannot see it but we can trust him.
Think of Moses as he went from an exalted position in Egypt to being a shepherd in the hills of Midian. Think of Joseph who went from the favorite son of his father to being a slave in Egypt and then a prisoner, falsely accused. God was working in them to get them ready to do his will. Moses was eighty when he was told to go to Egypt and deliver the Hebrews. God still works in those who trust him.
We may never be second in command of a great nation. We may not do anything that is even noticed by the world around us but still do a great work for God. It may be that we are godly parents who raise a child that does great things in their service. Years ago, there was a godly lady in our county who had five sons that all became preachers. These are all dead now but they have been replaced by at least two more generations that are serving God and leading others to Christ.
Heavenly Father it is such a joy to trust you and to know that you will always be with me and take care of me. Thank you for the many times you have made it so easy for me to make major decisions in my life by altering the circumstances in my life. Thank you for providing my needs when I did not know how it could be done. Help me open my heart to be used by you and keep me from being selfish with what you have given me. As I face uncertain times around me, help me always remember that Jesus is my solid Rock. In his name I humbly pray.
