Daily Devotional: Psalms 22:19-24
Ps 22:19-24
19 But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. 20 Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. 21 Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen. 22 I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you. 23 You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! 24 For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.
2 Cor 1:3-5
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
As we go though this day, we can choose to focus on all the terrible things that are happening in our country and in the world and especially in our lives. This will lead us to feel depressed and rob us of the peace of God. Or we can intentionally focus our minds on the good all around us. We can dwell on the blessings of God in our lives and we can see good in the world. This attitude will take away our doubts and fears and will quench the worry and depression that is attempting to drag us down. It is our choice and we have the power to make it happen.
As a child of God, it does not matter what we face in life because God is with us. He has promised to never allow us to have more on us than we can bear, with his help. The greater the problem, the greater the deliverance and the more we have for which to rejoice. When we live by faith, the more Satan throws at us, the more we can have the victory in Jesus Christ. We are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ our Lord and there is nothing that can separate us from his love. So we rejoice in the Lord always and let me say it again, rejoice in the Lord always!
O Lord God, giver of life and all that exists, I praise you for taking care of me and for delivering me from so many perils I have faced in my life. You have delivered me and my loved ones from what we thought was certain death. You has given me strength when others left this world to be with you. You have put just the right friends in my life at the time I needed them the most. You have blessed me with family that loves me and who help me in trying to be the best I can be. Help me focus on the good in my life and rejoice in Jesus my Lord. Use me where you want me to be in the way you want me to be used. I pray in Jesus name.
