Daily Devotional: Psalms 24:7-10

Ps 24:7-10

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty--he is the King of glory. Selah

Matt 21:14-16

14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant. 16 "Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, "'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?"

There was never a king who ruled over the people of God that exceeded David in the sight of God. Every other king that followed him was measured by him and his devotion to God. He trusted God and never put his trust in idols. He remembered, even at the height of his splendor, that God had given it all to him and it was not his own doing. He thanked God and gave him honor when things were good.

But now his Son is King of kings and he is Lord of lords. David was a great king and tried to do his best to serve God but he failed at times and sinned. Jesus lived his life without sin, never losing sight of his mission here on earth, which was to do the will of the Father. Jesus is the Lord Almighty-he is the King of glory.

We are now called to serve him, in his army. But this is a spiritual war against the world forces and against all the evils of the spirit world as well. Satan and his followers are doing all they can to get each of us to turn our eyes away from our leader, to doubt his wisdom and to give in to sin. As we engage in the battles each day of our lives, we can trust our King to always know what is best. Like David, we will fail at times and lose some battles along the way but we must never forget that Jesus will lift us up. We are more than conquerors in the one who loves us and who died for our sins, the one who lives forever, Jesus Christ our Lord!

Heavenly Father it is so wonderful to know that Jesus has forgiven my sin and that I am counted as righteous. It is such a blessing to know that as I continue to walk in your light and firmly trust in you, that my sins continue to be covered by the blood of Jesus. So as I navigate through this life in this world, give me wisdom and your strength to always be faithful to you. Help me have a pure heart, filled with compassion and love so I will use all I have to your glory. Be with our nation and our leaders that we can live in peace. I humbly pray in Jesus name.
