Daily Devotional: Psalms 32:1-5
Ps 32:1-5
1 Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Selah 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"--and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah
Titus 3:4-8a
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying.
We get so caught up in the world around us that we too often forget the real meaning of life and why we are here on earth. I do not mean the evil of this world or things that are wrong but just the day-to-day activities. Our kid (or grandkids) have ball games, band concerts or robot competition (or whatever else), we have to keep up our home and do all that requires and we must do some shopping and we go to church and the list just goes on and on with all that keeps us busy.
While these things may be fun, many are good and some are even necessary, this is not what our life is all about. We are here for a time to get ready to be with the Lord in eternity and the thing that will keep that from happening is if our sins are not forgiven by God. Our sin separates us from the Lord and from heaven.
In his love and by his grace, God has done his part for us to be forgiven of every sin we have ever committed against him. He gave his Son to die as the substitute for the death we deserved because of our sin. When we have our sins washed away by the blood of Jesus and we then live for him, his blood continues to wash us clean so that we live without guilt and in full anticipation of heaven.
Hallelujah! Lord God for your great love and your tender mercy that has caused you to extend your grace to me in Jesus your Son. I know that I do not deserve to have anything good in my life because of my sin, and yet, I also know that you have forgiven me and do not hold any of it against me. Use me and help me to share your grace with those who do not know Jesus. Give me a pure heart of compassion instead of being proud or being judgmental toward others. Help me always remain faithful to you and to your word. I pray in Jesus name.
