Daily Devotional: Psalms 32:6-11
Ps 32:6-11
6 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. 7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. 10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. 11 Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous ones; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
James 3:9-11
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
What a blessing to be forgiven and to know it! What a joy to live every day with the knowledge that we are right with God, by his grace! But grace means that we have nothing of which to be proud because it is not by our accomplishments that we are acceptable to God. It is not what we know that makes us right nor what we are doing that brings us into his fellowship but it is about what he has done.
We believe in and we serve a God who loves us and wants only what is best for us in every situation. He wants us to come to him in faith, trusting him with our whole being and thus, following his will to the best of our ability. He has revealed his truth to us and wants us to understand it and live it. We are told to live in a way that shows forth his righteous nature and demonstrates our faith in him.
But we do still sin. We do fail to live up to his glory. We do misunderstand some things he has revealed to us. Even in this miserable and undeserving condition, he continues to forgive us by the blood of Jesus and count us as righteous before him. As those who are forgiven by God, we share his glory and his grace to those around us so they too can have the joy of salvation in their lives.
Thank you, Lord God, for your great love, your tender mercy and your matchless grace shown to me in the death, burial, and the resurrection of Jesus. Thank you for being my Father who always looks out for me and works everything for my good. Thank you for allowing me to live in this great nation with all the freedoms I enjoy every day. Thank you for giving me parents who loved you and who trusted you and taught me to do this also. Thank you for so many Christian friends who always encourage me to live for you. I pray in the name of Jesus.
