Daily Devotional: Psalms 40:9-13
Ps 40:9-13
9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O LORD. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly. 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me. 12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. 13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me; O LORD, come quickly to help me.
2 Cor 5:9-11
9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 11 Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.
There is no greater news than the gospel which tells us of the love of God and yet, it is perhaps the best kept secret in the world. We should be shouting it from the rooftops to all who will listen. We have not been given the message of salvation to keep it in our hearts but rather, we are to share it with the lost world. While there are many who will reject it and some may even become angry when they hear it, there is some lost soul who is seeking to know his God.
Since we know what it is to fear the Lord our God, we must try to persuade men and women to come to Christ. It is in him that mankind can find peace and lasting joy, and in him alone. It is not a message of hatred or bitterness but a message of love for all. The gospel is for the rich and poor, for the social elite and the social outcast, and it is for every nation, every race and every family in the world. The love of God knows no bounds or boundaries. We must make it our goal to please the Lord with our lives and in so doing we make the gospel attractive to those who see us and know us. We let our lights shine so others will see Jesus in us.
Heavenly Father I am so thankful for your love, for your mercy and your grace that allows me to be forgiven of all my sins and to be your child. Thank you for the joy and peace in my heart through Jesus my Lord. Increase my faith so I will be willing to share the gospel with others. Be with those who are taking treatments and give them healing where you see best. Help each of us trust you more with every part of our lives. Be with the leaders of our country. Bless your children, wherever they are, with peace and joy. I pray in the name of Jesus. Robert
