Daily Devotional: Psalms 51:13-19
Ps 51:13-19
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. 14 Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. 18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
Philemon 3-7
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, 5 because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. 6 I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.
There is nothing that thrills the heart like Jesus and knowing that we belong to him. To be able to go to bed at night with a clear conscience because we have been forgiven and to arise knowing we are pure in the sight of God, is enough to make us wake up singing and rejoicing in the Lord. When I honestly look back over my life (at the end of a day or over the years) I see so many mistakes and things I wish I had done or not done but because I am walking in his light, his blood will continue to forgive me each moment of my life. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
It is this kind of assurance that causes us to want to worship the Lord and be with others who are serving him. By faith in God, we put aside all fear and worry and find peace in him. It is knowing that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of God that makes us want to share the gospel with others so they can have the peace and joy he has given us. By accepting the love of God, we want to share love with others and encourage them in their struggles.
O Lord God it is such a joy to know I have been forgiven of my sin. There is no heavier burden on my heart than the load of sin and to know you have lifted and taken it away is the greatest gift you could give to me. Now, create in me a pure heart and a steadfast spirit so I will live for you in every way and always let Jesus live in me. As your Spirit works in me, help me allow him to mold me more each day into your image. Be with your people who are being tested and persecuted for their faith and give them your strength and peace. In Jesus name.
